Tom Hiddleston, Zawe Ashton and Charlie Cox celebrate the opening night of Jamie Lloyd’s production of Betrayal by Harold Pinter
The Jamie Lloyd Company production runs for a strictly limited season until 1 June at the Harold Pinter Theatre, in the West End
The Jamie Lloyd Company production of Harold Pinter’s Betrayal held it’s press night on 13 March at the Harold Pinter Theatre. The strictly limited season ends on 1 June. Directed by Jamie Lloyd, the production stars Golden Globe, Olivier and Evening Standard Award winner Tom Hiddleston, Zawe Ashton and Charlie Cox.
Guests at the opening night included Lady Antonia Fraser, Laura Carmichael, Michael C. Fox, Andrew Scott, Jade Anouka, Arinzé Kene, Adrian Lester, Alfie Allen and Pinter at the Pinter cast members Keith Allen, Phil Davis, Paapa Essiedu, Rupert Graves, Celia Imrie, John Macmillan, Eleanor Matsuura, Colin McFarlane, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Kate O’Flynn, Jonjo O’Neill, Hayley Squires, Al Weaver and Gemma Whelan.
Following the performance the guests moved to the Crypt at St Martins in the Fields for a party where, to reflect scenes in the play, Venetian inspired food was served including squid ink gnocchi with calamari, oyster mushroom flatbread with spiced pork and fennel, salt beef and potato croquette, taleggio, apple and caper crostini, robiola and mushroom arancini with roast tomato and pesto dipping sauce followed by traditional frittelle with rich chocolate and orange sauce.
Guests drank Tanqueray and Fever-tree tonic with grapefruit supplied by Tanqueray and Prosecco provided by the London Prosecco Company.
The audience was entertained by ten-piece brass band ‘Old Dirty Bastards, With poetic precision, rich humour and an extraordinary emotional force, Betrayal charts a compelling seven-year romance, thrillingly captured in reverse chronological order. The complexities of the human heart are explored in this, “the greatest, and the most moving, of all Pinter’s plays” (The Daily Telegraph).
Betrayal is presented by The Jamie Lloyd Company, Ambassador Theatre Group Productions, Ben Lowy Productions, Gavin Kalin Productions and Glass Half Full Productions.
