A message from Ian McKellen:

I’m celebrating my 80th birthday by touring a new solo show to theatres I know well and a few that I don’t. The show starts with Gandalf and will probably end with an invitation to act with me on stage. In-between there will be anecdotes and acting. I open at my local arts centre in January and end up by August in Orkney.

Live theatre has always been thrilling to me, as an actor and in the audience. Growing up in Lancashire, I was grateful to those companies who toured beyond London and I’ve always enjoyed repaying that debt by touring up and down the country myself, with the RSC, the National Theatre, Prospect Theatre, the Actors’ Company, as well as with commercial productions.

I’ve long been a supporter of the pioneering work of Stratford East and I never miss the annual pantomime. I’m thrilled to be making my debut as part of the London Tour of my new solo show and to support Theatre Royal’s work with young people in the community. See you there, I hope!

Here are a few things we would like to bring to your attention:

To enable as many people as possible to see this show, there is a maximum of four tickets per person.

To avoid the illegal resale as tickets, customers will only be able to collect tickets from 5pm on the day of the performance (no print at home or postal tickets are available).

Our online booking system doesn’t allow customers to leave isolated seats. We do this in order to to prevent gaps in the auditorium. Please call our Box Office team on 020 8534 0310 if you need any help.

Currently seats are on sale from Row B in the stalls backwards, and it is possible that Row A will go on sale at a later date, so please be aware that purchasing seats in Row B does not guarantee that you will be in the front row.

For some shows the boxes might have a slightly restricted view, please do not hesitate to speak to our box office team before booking if you would like further information.
